Farm News

Come for a visit...

Flower Hill Farm is in its sixth season.  While it is true to say the "to do list" is infinite, one of our favorite activities is hosting visitors.

We chose this farming effort because both of us wanted a non-urban experience.  As tired as we may be--especially at the end of a long, hot, summer day--we often pause a moment in disbelief that we are granted/allowed/lucky/blessed with this opportunity.  Much of it is manual labor, but the setting-- birds, wind, quiet, space, sunset, stars, beds of flowers, fields, ridges--is breath (not taking)  giving.

From an urban perspective, our connection to nature is often obscured, like the effect of light pollution on the stars.  Even a brief visit to a  park, forest or farm, offers a nice refresher.

We have two up coming events, and you might like to take advantage of one, or both.  This Sunday from 4-7pm, we are offering a Pick Your Own opportunity.  Come experience our farm, bring a picnic if you like, and return home with fresh flowers to remind you of your time here. (Click on the event on our calendar page for details and to get tickets.) Then, on September 10th join us with Silvia from Snapdragon Studio for a bouquet making workshop. Learn how to harvest and care for flowers for best vase life, and practice, with guidance, design tips to assure your bouquets show their best. A farm fresh lunch is included. (Click here for tickets to the bouquet making workshop..

Either activity will give you a peek into our daily experience, which, we are pleased to share.
